Here are the motions to recommend for the next Regular Council Meeting taking place on September 18, 2024.

Municipality of the District of Clare
MOTIONS TO RECOMMEND
Wednesday, September 4, 2024

PROPOSED BY Deputy Warden Eric Pothier and SECONDED BY Councillor Carl Deveau that the Council for the Municipality of the District of Clare recommend writing off $255.94 in municipal property taxes for Assessment Account Number 10995019.

PROPOSED BY Councillor Nil Doucet and SECONDED BY Councillor Danny Hill that the Council for the Municipality of the District of Clare recommend accepting the proposal from Spec Resources Inc. for the construction of a new parking lot for the Transport de Clare, to be located behind the St. Bernard Fire Department, in the amount of $8,735 plus HST and that these funds be taken from the Municipality’s Capital Reserve.

PROPOSED BY Councillor Nil Doucet and SECONDED BY Councillor Carl Deveau that the Council for the Municipality of the District of Clare recommend accepting the proposal from Ocean Side Excavating Ltd. for the demolition of 3232 Highway 1, Belliveau Cove, in the amount of $6,234 plus HST.

PROPOSED BY Deputy Warden Eric Pothier and SECONDED BY Councillor Carl Deveau that the Council for the Municipality of the District of Clare recommend approving the Comfort Centres and Emergency Shelters policy as presented.

PROPOSED BY Councillor Danny Hill and SECONDED BY Deputy Warden Eric Pothier that the Council for the Municipality of the District of Clare recommend proceeding with the purchase and installation of a generator for the Hectanooga Fire Hall in the amount of $17,745 plus HST, as allocated below, and that these funds be taken from the Municipality’s Canada Community-Building Fund Reserve.

  • Gittens Electrical Ltd. - $14,895 plus HST
  • Spec Resources Inc. - $2,250 plus HST
  • Superior Propane - $600 plus HST

PROPOSED BY Councillor Brian Comeau and SECONDED BY Councillor Carl Deveau that the Council for the Municipality of the District of Clare recommend sending a letter to the Nova Scotia Department of Public Works inquiring as to the possibility of adding a crosswalk in front of the Villa d’la Baie in Meteghan.
